Would you ever guess that the best pizza I’ve ever eaten in London is hidden in this unnamed brick house? And, that inside this house is a studio flooding with light and white wash tables. It’s a food photographers dream space and a real local secret. When we arrived no one else was there but the husband and wife duo who both cook and own Story Deli. This place feels very relaxed, almost like you’ve been invited into someone’s dining room. When I ordered a coffee they simply handed me a shot of espresso and the milk jug for me to self-pour. I actually prefer this relaxed attitude to dining but I can understand why some might expect more. These pizzas are on the expensive side (£17) but it’s been weeks and I’m still dreaming about it. So if you just got your pay cheque then definitely think about treating yourself to one of these. We both choose thin crust pizzas topped with gooey mozzarella, mushrooms, chorizo, rocket and chilli jam. Their pizzas are organic, which really makes a difference. After training as a chef on a farm and eating veggies straight from the soil, I can vouch for the importance of both cooking with, and eating fresh ingredients. Needless to say we devoured everything but the crusts, because I still believe it will make my hair curly. Story Deli is located on the less touristy side of Brick Lane towards Columbia Flower Market, making it the perfect hideaway on Sunday’s market day.
